CES (Consumer Electronics Show) is a place where innovators & inventors gather to display their latest gadgets / technological advancements.
From 5G, to security, to Digital Canvas – this year, Netgear unveiled quite a few products that’ll redefine the future of connectivity & take it to a whole new level.
What were they? Let’s take a look.
The Nighthawk 5G Mobile Hotspot
Since the era of 5G is right around the corner, Netgear stayed ahead of the curve by introducing its Nighthawk 5G Mobile Hotspot.
This made waves at CES ’19 because it’s not only an industry-first but also the world’s first standards-based millimeter-wave mobile 5G device.
Meural Canvas (Generation 3.0)
Tech enthusiasts & art lovers, Netgear hit two targets with one arrow through the 3rd Generation of its Meural Smart Art Frame.
This WiFi-connected 1080p digital display now comes with a database of over 30,000 images from various artists and institutions from around the world.
Some of the art partners for the subscription service include the Saturday Evening Post, Normal Rockwell Archives, & the National Geographic archive.
Orbi Pro Ceiling
This new addition to the Orbi family was the talk of the town among SMB owners.
The high-performance business tri-band mesh WiFi satellite extends network coverage to an extra 2,500 sq ft.
Its elegant and slim design is made better due to the fact that it can be installed instantly through a simple wall mount.
Armor™ cyber security on Orbi
After Nighthawk, it was announced that Netgear’s collaboration with BitDefender will extending to the Orbi series as well!
Through a software update, very soon Orbi users will gain access to the legendary multi-layered cyber security service – Armor™.
Armor actively detects and protects against cyber threats such as viruses, malware, spyware, ransomware, phishing, and botnets across PCs, Macs + iOS and Android mobile devices.
Nighthawk® Cable Telephony modem for Xfinity® Voice
Those looking for cable modems were glad to see the Nighthawk ultra-high-speed modem for XFINITY Voice that delivers gigabit speed cable internet. This high-performance DOCSIS® 3.1 cable modem supports all of today’s internet service plans and is designed for the fastest internet speed tiers in near future. It includes two telephone ports that automatically prioritize voice over internet for clear and uninterrupted calls. Its enhanced features include 3-way conference calling, caller ID, call forwarding and more.
Orbi Whole Home Wi-Fi System with Built-in Cable Modem (CBK40)
The ceiling satellite wasn’t the only addition to the Orbi family, Netgear took connectivity to a whole new level with the 2-in-1 tri-band WiFi cable modem.
This system is designed to work right out of the box thus eliminating equipment leasing fees from your internet provider.
The router that caught everyone’s eyes, through its design & its specs, was the Nighthawk AX8. It is an 8-Stream AX6000 WiFi router that supports the new 802.11ax (also known as WiFi 6) WiFi standard. It provides up to 4 times more data capacity than previous standards. The AX8 is powered by a 64-bit 1.8GHz quad-core processor designed to transfer gigabits of data with almost zero CPU load. It is the industry’s first home router with Multi-Gig internet support, achieved by aggregating two gigabit Ethernet ports.

Orbi with WiFi 6
To deliver gigabit wireless speed, Netgear has a new Orbi that is equipped with 6th-generation WiFi 6 802.11ax technology. WiFi 6 is the latest version of the WiFi protocol & it will definitely make an impact on how we connect to computers, smartphones, tablets, & other devices.
This year was extra special for us as we not only celebrated the 1 year anniversary of Nighthawk’s renowned Pro Gaming router, but Netgear was also named as a CES2019 Innovation Awards Honoree for our Meural Smart Canvas, Orbi Pro Ceiling, Nighthawk AX12 and Orbi Cable Modem.
